Once upon a time, I wanted to try out the beauty box. I signed up, had an absolutely hellish experience with a certain company, and cancelled my subscription immediately after receiving the second box. The first had been a major dud, and the second only contained one item I enjoyed using: the Crème Mains Nutritive from Institut Karité. So, when there was a great deal on Institut Karité products on Vente Privee, I jumped at the opportunity to try more from the brand.
All of Institut Karité's products are shea butter-based, meaning they're derived from plants and high in Vitamins A, D, E, and F. The first thing that caught my eye was the fantastic packaging. I love how simple and uniform everything is. Each scent is associated with a specific color, and there are several scents in the range that appeal to me (Honeysuckle! Lavender!). These products are highly scented, so steer clear if you have a sensitive sense of smell. I opted for the more familiar scents of Vanilla Bourbon (pleasant) and Almond and Honey (absolutely divine).
Overall, these products have not disappointed. As I mentioned before, the scents are quite lovely and tend to stay on my skin for awhile. Like all butters, shea butter tends to be a bit greasy, so I usually apply this in the evening when I don't have to rush to get dressed, but it does absorb quickly and leaves my skin feeling really nourished. I bought the 500 ml sizes for 19€ total, while the Lait Corps Extra-Doux (Extra Gentle Body Milk) retails for 39€ and the Crème Lavante Extra-Doux (Extra Gentle Cream Wash) goes for 19,50€ regularly. I'm not sure if I could justify spending the full price on these, but for as much as I've enjoyed using them lately, I'm kicking myself for not ordering more when they were marked down.
